Xiang Yu, violin (Huhhot, Inner Mongolia) was the winner of the 2010 Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition and has won awards from the Wieniawski, Michael Hill, Irving M. Klein, and Baden-Württemberg International competitions. Xiang has appeared as a soloist with the Pittsburgh Symphony, Auckland Symphony, Calgary Philharmonic, Munich Chamber Orchestra, Norwegian Broadcasting Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony, Young-Euro Classic Orchestra, and the Oslo Philharmonic and has given recitals in Germany, China, Poland, Canada, Singapore, Norway, New Zealand, France, and the United States. Xiang has spent his summers participating at the Kronberg Academy, Verbier Academy, Bergen Festival, Perlman Chamber Music Program, Morning Side, and Ravinia Festival. He has collaborated with Walter Levin, Zakhar Bron, Ana Chumachenco, Mihaela Martin, Pamela Frank, Paul Katz, Ida Kavafian, Igor Ozim, Frans Helmerson, and Christian Tetzlaff, and this coming season, he will be on tour with Miriam Fried appearing in chamber music concerts in New York, Chicago, Florida, and in New England. Xiang is currently an Artist Diploma at the New England Conservatory studying with Donald Weilerstein and Kim Kashkashian and serves as the teaching assistant to Donald Weilerstein.
